Address Validation with Claims
When a new claim is processed within Shipment Guard, we have the ability to validate the shipping address to ensure the address is correct for deliver. The goal is to reduce the number of lost packages, and expensive carrier fees associated with address correction or delivery.
UPS & FedEx for example charge on average $30 per package due to an simple address correction or redelivery issue. These fees can add up, especially with high volume brands. To reduce these issues, we are fully integrated with Address Guard to help brands automate address validation during the claims flow or within the Order Editing widget after checkout.
Address Validation Status
After a new claim is submitted, we will display the Address Validation status within the claims history column.
There are a few status options:
Not Validated - This means the shipping address was not validated. Typically this will occur if the customer skips adding a new address, or if Address Guard is not connected at the time of claim submission.
Suggestion not accepted - Address Guard detected a minor issue with the address and offered a suggestion to the customer. The customer did not accept the suggestion, and continued with their claim submission.
Suggestion accepted - Similar to above, except the customer did accept the suggestion and we've updated the address. This ensures you have the most accurate address for order replacement. We recommend to review the suggestion against the original address, to ensure there are no major issues that would result in a delivery delay (ex: Customer enters "Road" but should be "Drive" for their street address).
Unverified - If the customer entered in an invalid address due to your enabled rules in Address Guard or the carrier stated the address could not be found in their records. Shipping to this address may end up as a lost package or a redelivery fee by the carrier.
Verified - The address passed all validation checks by Address Guard and the underlying carrier has deemed this address to be correct.
