Overview

The purpose of the Switch product variant module is to help customers who may have accidentally selected the wrong size or color of their purchased item. For example, if a customer purchased a medium T-Shirt, but meant to purchase a large instead. Now the customer can easily swap out the incorrect size in just a few clicks.

Get Started

To begin configuring this module go to: Order Editing > Switch product variants

Module Preview

The first step when configuring this module is the text content shown to customers, such as the title, buttons, and explanation text for the charge / refund once changes are ready to be accepted. There are two scenarios to consider:

  1. Replacement product requires additional payment - In the event, that the customer adds a larger size variant or a different product entirely, where an additional charge is required, they will be prompted to do so. The "Explanation text - Charge" text field handles the messaging that is shown to the customer for this purpose.

  2. Replacement product requires a refund - In the event, that the customer instead selects a product that is less than what was originally paid, an prompt will display indicating a refund will be processed soon. The "Explanation text - Refund" text field handles the messaging that is shown to the customer for this purpose.

Advanced Options

By default, the customer has the flexibility to select any product to switch out for their existing selected product. If you want to prevent the customer from switching products and instead just stick to what they purchased (i.e.: they can only change the variant), then select the checkbox "Prevent customers from switching between products" within the bottom advanced section.

Example (checkbox selected):

  • James originally purchased a Disney T-Shirt

  • James will only be shown other colors or sizes of the same Disney T-Shirt

How customers interact with the module

Within the module the customer will see a 2 or 3 part section (depending on your advanced option) to begin updating their product.

  1. Select the product you wish to update to a new product or variant

  2. Select the new product or variant to replace this with

  3. Confirm the selection including the price difference > approve
